I have a background in community development and have worked with marginalised populations in Melbourne, Sydney, Vietnam, Indonesia and China for 25 years. I completed a PhD with the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Monash University focussed on risks and resultant harms among a cohort of ethnic Vietnamese heroin users from Footscray, Melbourne. Post doctoral work with the Kirby Institute (UNSW) and the National Drug Research Institute (Curtin Uni) was focused on hepatitis C treatment and alcohol and drug use with established longitudinal cohorts of injecting drug users. I am currently teaching public health for undergraduate and post graduate students at La Trobe University.
