Doctoral Researcher, University of Malta

Petra Bishtawi is a PhD student at the Institute for European Studies of the University of Malta, where she started her research in October 2013, focusing on migration and asylum and responsibility-sharing in the EU.

She received a joint MA in Economics of International Trade and European Integration from the University of Antwerp, Free University Brussels, University of Bari, University of Cantabria, Lille University of Science and Technology, University of Economics in Prague, and Staffordshire University in 2009 and an MA in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Malta in 2010. She worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Czech Chamber of Commerce until she returned to academic research.
