Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Edith Cowan University

Pi-Shen joined the Edith Cowan University's (ECU) School of Business and Law (SBL) in July 2016 where he enjoys teaching on the ECU MBA program, mainly in the MBA capstone unit and units in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation specialisation. He is currently Deputy Director of the Centre for Work and Organisational Performance (CWOP) and was SBL Director of Accreditation and a member of the school executive from 2017-2018. He has been also a member of the ECU Innovation Steering Committee and the SBL Research and Research Training Committee from 2017-2018. He has published widely in aspects of entrepreneurship, innovation and management in the Asia-Pacific. He has led and secured Australian Category 1, 2, 3 and 4 research grants as well as international research funding. He has also been successful in securing New Colombo Plan funding for student exchanges and internships. Since 2017, he has been a Western Australian Rhodes Scholarship Network Advisor and has been a Judge and mentor for various hackathons for high schools in the Perth metropolitan area. In 2018, he was the mentor to ‘Team iSafe’, which made it to the finals of The Big Idea Social Innovation competition.

He has previously held positions at Flinders University and the University of Adelaide. As Associate Professor at Flinders Business School, Flinders University, he was Program Director of the Bachelor of Business degree and also Research Higher Degrees and Honours coordinator. He was on the Venture Dorm advisory committee and the Flinders University-Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) committee. He began his academic career in Australia as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at University of Adelaide's Business School and taught MBA/MCommerce courses on Entrepreneurship, Organisation Behaviour and Leadership.

A PPE (Philosophy, Politics & Economics) graduate from Oxford University, he completed his PhD at Judge Business School, University of Cambridge where he taught on undergraduates and postgraduate courses. He is visiting scholar at the Nanyang Technopreneurship Centre, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore and is part of Adelaide University based Family Business Education and Research Group.

Before academia, Pi-Shen served more than 13 years as an Army officer in the Singapore Armed Forces, he was lead Project Officer in the NTU Business Process Review and consulted on UK HEIF projects and is still active in his family's business.
