Dr Polly Hayes is Lecturer in Parasitology and Medical Microbiology at the University of Westminster. Her research concentrates on the diversity, evolution and molecular ecology of parasites and other pathogens, disease vectors, and host-pathogen interactions in relation to transmission.

Special areas of interest include neglected vectors of zoonotic diseases (biting flies, ticks, fleas), protistan blood parasites of medical and veterinary importance (particularly trypanosomes), and parasites of wildlife, especially in relation to emerging zoonoses, food security and the pet trade.
