Senior Lecturer in Asian Politics, School of Social and Political Sciences, The University of Melbourne

Pradeep is a Senior Lecturer in Asian Politics in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne. He was Deputy Head of School (Engagement) in 2020. He is concurrently also an Academic Fellow of the Australia India Institute and a Member of the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies at the same university. He has worked in senior roles with a number of organisations in Australia and abroad. Born and raised in India, he lived and worked in China for more than six years during the 1980s and 90s. In addition to his work on China, he continues to maintain teaching and research interests in broader Asian and world affairs. He was a Visiting Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University, Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore, and a Visiting Fellow at the Mercator Institute for China Studies in Berlin during 2019-20.
He has published in a variety of academic journals, including International Politics, The Round Table, European Studies, South Asia, and Asia Policy. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Asian Security and International Affairs. He is also the co-author of China Since 1978: Reform Modernisation and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.
