R. B. Bernstein is lecturer in political science at the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership, City College of New York. His books include THE FOUNDING FATHERS: A VERY SHORT INTRODUCTION (forthcoming, Oxford UP, 2015), THOMAS JEFFERSON (Oxford UP, 2003), and AMENDING AMERICA: IF WE LOVE THE CONSTITUTION SO MUCH, WHY DO WE KEEP TRYING TO CHANGE IT (Times Books, 1993, pbk, U. Press of Kansas, 1995). He has written extensively on the American Revolution and the founding period; he also has curated historical exhibitions for The New York Public Library, the New-York Historical Society, and the Library of Congress. He is now completing a concise biography of John Adams for Oxford University Press.
