Moran Professor of Conservation and Development, University of Cambridge

I am the Moran Professor of Conservation and Development in the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge.

I’m also Professor of Environmental Policy with a dual appointment in the Departments of Humanities, Social, and Political Sciences and Environmental Systems Science at ETH Zürich.

My training is highly interdisciplinary within the environmental sciences, with substantial depth in economics and geography. My research examines the: i) causes of land change and its impacts, ii) effectiveness of policies aimed at promoting conservation and sustainable development, and iii) opportunities and challenges to scaling up more sustainable agriculture.
