Project Manager, Energy Geosciences, Newcastle University

Rachel Brown is a Project Manager at Newcastle University and has over 18 years’ experience in building and delivering projects in the environmental and energy sectors.

In her current role, she has responsibility for driving the vision and ambition of UKUH, a NERC-ESRC research programme funded to gather the scientific evidence from which to assess the potential environmental, social, and economic impacts of shale gas in the UK.

Through integration and the synthesis of research outputs, she supports over 60 academics and researchers deliver a holistic, integrated research programme. Part of Rachel’s role is to spearhead the internal and external engagement for UKUH with the ambition of delivering long-lasting research impact.

Before working in academia, Rachel gained over ten years’ experience in environmental consultancy, delivering Environmental Impact Assessments for energy developments. She also has worked as a practitioner at the Environment Agency as a hydrogeologist.
