I have a PhD in economics from Columbia University in the City of New York in the US and M.A. and B.A. (Hons.) in economics from the University of Delhi, India. I am also a Fellow of the World Innovation Foundation. My areas of specialization are macroeconomics, public economics and development economics and my country focus is India.
I have taught at Australian National University (in Australia), Columbia University and Williams College in the US, Queen's University in Canada, University of Warwick in the UK and Delhi School of Economics, Indian institute of Management (Bangalore) and Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research in India. I have published dozens of books with leading publishers and more than 150 papers in leading scientific journals in economics. I have guided several PhD students. My work has been funded by, among others, the MacArthur Foundation (USA), Australia India Council (Commonwealth Government of Australia), Department for International Development (UK), International Fund for Agricultural Development (Rome), IDRC (Canada) and AusAID and Australian Research Council (Australia). I have consulted widely for organizations such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, UNDP, IFAD, DFID, WIDER and the Government of India.
