Rainbow studied European Studies and French at the University of Manchester, including a year spent at Sciences Po Paris, before pursuing an MRes and PhD in politics at Birkbeck, University of London. She joined Queen Mary in 2007. Her love of Paris has taken her back several times since, and she has held positions as visiting professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieur (2011) and the Centre de recherches politiques de Sciences Po (CEVIPOF, 2011 to date). She was convenor of the Political Studies Association’s Women and Politics group (2008-12) and is the founding convenor of the international network on Women in French Politics. She co-edits the European Journal of Political Research Political Data Yearbook. She dislikes Facebook, but can be found lurking on Twitter (@rainbowmurray). She has a blog (http://rainbowmurray.blogspot.co.uk/) as well as providing regular guest posts on other blogs, and she has her own website: www.rainbowmurray.co.uk. She enjoys talking about her research to anyone who will listen, including students, journalists, governments, political parties, international organisations, NGOs and her long-suffering relatives. She also loves baking, and frequently plies colleagues, friends, family, neighbours etc with home-made cakes and other goodies.
