Rajendran Govender

Professor Rajendran Govender is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of the Western Cape, and also served as Deputy Dean of Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Education for the period 2017-2020.Rajendran started teaching school mathematics in 1985, became a college mathematics lecturer in 1995 and in 2002 he became a subject advisor of mathematics in KwaZulu-Natal. In 2003 he joined the University of Limpopo as a mathematics education lecturer, and in 2008 joined the School of Science and Mathematics Education. His area of mathematics education research focuses on geometry, problem solving, modelling, reasoning and proof, and information technology to facilitate meaningful learning.

Prof Govender, has been admitted as Teaching Advancement at University (TAU) Fellow. He is currently the editor-in-chief of the Pythagoras journal, which is a Scopus indexed journal, and has recently been appointed as a participating member on the CHE Initial Teacher Education Reference Group, and also a member of the National Institute for Curriculum and Professional Development (NICPD) Online Teacher Development Platform Reference Group.
