More than a decade in academics, and before that another decade in corporate world. Academic research interests include: Global economics, geopolitics, financial markets, education management. ICTs and its impacts were part of the thesis. Have written in Nikkei Asian Review, East Asia Forum, Seeking Alpha, HuffPost, University World News, and others.
Teaching areas (in IIFT - or in IIT Kharagpur (a visiting faculty)) were in areas of Operations Management and ICTs/IT/MIS.
Graduated (Chemical engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur; MBA from IIT Bombay and PhD from IIT Kharagpur. Corporate experiences comprise experiences from shop floors and junior management positions to top management position in global Fortune 50/India's Fortune 50 - in different functions and sectors.
Was part of the dot-com boom in India during 2000-2005 (Associate Director in eBay); and prior to that had been in Management Consulting role with Siemens Business Services.
As part of corporate work as well as in academic career/academic administrator, have delivered key sessions/training programs in leading Indian companies/bodies representing Indian industries. A management expert with strong focus on critical business/economic issues, an ability to probe deep when and where necessary and a strong analytical mind to see through numbers.
Business process re-engineering, clarity in thinking, prioritizing objectives, and simplifying things where necessary and possible are the jobs of any leader. The job isn't complete without communicating the same with the stakeholders, in unequivocal terms, and getting their buy-ins.
I enjoy interacting with young faculty members and students the most in my present role. Contributing to implementable policy-research with my little expertise, primarily related to areas of education and healthcare, that can affect hundreds of millions of lives across the world positively, is something I continue to look forward to.
