Dr Rashid is currently working as a lecturer of Accounting at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia. Prior to joining ECU, he worked at Lincoln University, New Zealand, and New Zealand tertiary institutions (e.g. Aspire2 International) for more than four years. His areas of research interest include corporate social and environmental/sustainability accounting (including sustainability reporting and integrated reporting), financial reporting and corporate governance and corporate fraud/misconduct, and audit and assurance (including financial audits and non-financial/sustainability assurance engagements). Rashid has published 19 refereed articles in leading international accounting and management journals, 14 of which are ranked A* or A as ABDC List (Australian Business Deans Council List). These include the British Accounting Review, British Journal of Management, Business and Society, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Journal of Corporate Finance, Meditari Accountancy Research Journal, and Business Strategy and Environment among others.
Rashid has received several research grants and awards including the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) 2021 Research Grant, the 2020 ECU Strategic Research Grant, and the 2017 USA International Finance Corporation (IFC) Travel Grant, and the 2020 ECU School of Business and Law Discipline Award.
