Associate Professor of Demography, Monash University

Rebecca Kippen is Associate Professor of Demography in the School of Rural Health at Monash University, Bendigo. She holds a Bachelor of Business (Mathematics and Accounting) from La Trobe University, Bendigo, and a PhD (Demography) from the Australian National University, Canberra. She has held research and teaching positions at the Australian National University, and was an Australian Research Council Future Fellow at the School of Population Health, University of Melbourne, 2010-2014, researching Australia's historical demography. Since the late 1990s, Dr Kippen's work on population futures has been highly influential in population debate both in Australia and internationally. Current research includes life-course analysis of Tasmanian convicts, Victorian Aborigines, and Victorian World War One veterans; health and mortality in regional areas; Australian fertility; and work for the Hazelwood Mine Fire Health Study.
