Grant Funded Researcher: Endometriosis, Robinson Research Institute, University of Adelaide

Dr Beck O’Hara is a Grant-Funded Researcher with Robinson Research Institute, Adelaide Medical School - University of Adelaide and is currently working on the Endometriosis Digital Health Platform Project (EndoZone) funded by Jean Hailes for Women’s Health and the Australian Government Department of Health.

Beck has worked in chronic disease, health policy and health promotion research for more than 15 years for state and local government, non-profit organisations and Universities. She is experienced in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. She has conducted research in regional and remote areas and has contributed to projects investigating experiences of complex conditions like diabetes and with vulnerable population groups including women from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Beck completed her PhD at Monash University where she conducted a mixed-methods study examining women’s experiences of managing endometriosis in Australia and the role of self-management in this disease. Dr O’Hara then moved to Adelaide, where she has been coordinating the EndoZone project. This platform has been co-created to respond to the needs of the endometriosis community, with a particular emphasis on current unmet needs, and research into how we can better serve those living with the condition.
