My research lies in the field of forced migration, in particular the UK asylum determination process, refugee policy, and government engagement with displaced and vulnerable groups. My PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh (2010) was a study of asylum applicants' experiences of waiting in the asylum process in Glasgow. I am currently co-investigator on an AHRC project concerned with the intergenerational transmission of cultural heritage among members of the displaced and dispersed Chagossian community.
