Dr. Rebecca Spencer is a professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience and Behavior Program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She received her PhD in Neuroscience from Purdue University followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at UC Berkeley’s Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute.

Dr. Spencer’s research examines sleep’s function across the lifespan. In particular, her research points to changes in sleep with development and aging and how these changes influence waking cognitive function. Her research is supported by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
