Renee Zahnow is a lecturer in criminology at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia; her research focuses on the physical and social context of crime and deviance. One major branch of her research focuses on alcohol related harm, drug use and violence in the night time economy. She has expertise in spatial and longitudinal analysis and has applied these expertise to examine spatio-temporal patterns of a range of social problems including violence, crime, disorder, disaster effects and fire. Currently Renee has an interest in applying her analytic expertise to examine patterns of drug use, in particular the use of steroids and PIEDs (Performance and Image Enhancing Drugs) and the development of drug using trajectories over time in Australia and globally.
