Program Manager, Master of Fashion (Design), RMIT University

Dr Ricarda Bigolin is a practising designer, artist and program manager of the Master of Fashion (Design) at RMIT’s School of Fashion and Textiles. Her design, research and teaching practices are concerned with approaches to fashion design that question and explore fashion production’s allusive and aspirational qualities. Ricarda’s collaborative work with curator Nella Themelios, ‘D & K’, offers a continual investigation and critique of the strategies of fashion branding, and has recently been commissioned to produce work for exhibition and permanent collection at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam. Other areas of Ricarda’s practice are concerned with notions of the performative in fashion, through investigations into the tacit and embodied relationships between materials, body and dress. She is a principal researcher for this area with the Swedish School of Textiles, University of Boras, where she regularly gives guest lectures.
