Dr Ricardo Soares Magalhaes is Associate Professor in Population Health and Biosecurity at the UQ School of Veterinary Science and Affiliated with the UQ Children’s Health Research Center. Ricardo is an infectious disease epidemiologist with qualifications in both human (PhD) and veterinary public health (DVM MSc DiplECVPH).
He leads the UQ Spatial Epidemiology Laboratory (www.spatialepilab.com) a "One Health" medical geography research group at the University of Queensland, Australia. His research program focuses on three main research domains:
1) Spatial epidemiology of zoonotic and neglected tropical infections
2) Outbreak response for emerging infectious diseases
3) Animal health and the environment / biosecurity
