Richard Alston

I am a historian of the Roman world and its intellectual afterlife and have worked on social and economic history of the Roman East and ancient and modern political ideologies. I am particularly interested in the relationship between the state and the individual. I teach in the Classics Department of Royal Holloway, University of London.
