I am Scientist in Residence in the Department of Earth Sciences, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada, and also a Professor in the Faculty of Geology and Geography at Tomsk State University (TSU), Tomsk, Russia (in Siberia). I research all aspects of huge volcanic events called Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs): including their links with mineral, metal and hydrocarbon resource exploration, supercontinent breakup, catastrophic environmental/climate change including mass extinction events, and planetary analogues. I am the author of a 2014 textbook on Large Igneous Province (LIPs), published by Cambridge U. Press and have published over 212 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and more than 500 conference abstracts. According to Google Scholar i have been cited 15,520 times and my h-index is 57.
