Professor of Geography and Urban Studies, University of Miami

Richard Grant, is a Professor of Geography and Urban Studies Director at the University of Miami. He has worked in Ghana, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and Kenya. He also runs a number of Study Abroad Programs for the University of Miami in Cape Town, South Africa and Swakopmund, Namibia. His research interests are in African urbanization, e-waste, new towns, immigrant entrepreneurship and informal settlements. He is the author of "Africa: Geographies of Change, 2015, Oxford University Press and "Globalizing City; The Urban and Economic Transformation of Accra, Ghana”, 2009, Syracuse University Press." His research has been funded by the National Geographic Society and National Science Foundation. In the past, he had affiliations at Columbia University and Harvard University.
