Professor of Music, University of New Hampshire

Rob Haskins is a musicologist, critic, and performer. He holds degrees in musicology and harpsichord performance from the University of Rochester Eastman School of Music. In 2004 he joined the University of New Hampshire, where he is Professor of Music. Haskins has recorded and produced music by Steve Reich, John Cage, and other composers for labels including Mode and Nonesuch. In 2012 he acted as musical director and performer for a new production of Cage’s Song Books at the Holland Festival with the new-music group Alarm Will Sound. He also writes about John Cage and American minimalism.

His most recent books are "John Cage" (Reaktion Books, 2012) and "Classical Listening: Two Decades of Reviews from the 'American Record Guide'" (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016). He is currently completing a short cultural history of the piano for Reaktion Books.
