Robert S Clagett

Coordinator of the Gap Year Research Consortium at Colorado College, Colorado College

Education: BA in German Civilization from Brown University, MEd in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

After serving as Senior Admissions Officer and Associate Director of Financial Aid at Harvard College for 21 years and six years as Dean of Admissions at Middlebury College, Bob Clagett returned to the secondary school setting where he had started his career, first as Director of College Counseling at St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin, TX and later as Acting Co-Director of College Counseling at Colorado Academy in Denver. During this time Bob has written and spoken widely on his research on the effects of taking a gap year on the undergraduate experience, especially in the form of improved academic performance. Except for his current work coordinating the Gap Year Research Consortium at Colorado College, a group of a dozen colleges and universities sharing gap year research methodologies and outcomes, Bob is now retired and living in the Denver area.
