Professor in Marine Science, Griffith University

I am Professor in Marine Science at Griffith University in southeast Queensland, Australia.

Research in my lab centres on three themes:

1. ecology of coastal habitats including coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass and saltmarsh

2. ecosystem resilience, connectivity and marine reserves

3. carbon sequestration and food webs in coastal wetlands

I am on several scientific panels overseeing water quality and habitat conservation programs, and am interested in incorporating the science and monitoring of ecosystem health into adaptation strategies. Work on marine reserves and resilience is helping to find sustainable solutions to the issues of urbanisation and climate variability.
