Academic Tutor and Year One Coordinator in International Studies, University of Nottingham

Ruairidh is tutor in International Studies at the University of Nottingham Ningbo. His research interests are in Political Philsophy and Theory, in particular issues concerning State legitimacy and Political Obligation.

He joined the University of Nottingham Ningbo China in September 2017 as Content Tutor for International Studies in the first ‘preliminary’ year. Prior to this he completed his PhD at the University of St Andrews. His research focused on how citizens encounter and perceive the States that they inhabit. Finding that many dominate political and International Relations theories overlook the subjective element of political experience, his work sought to design a new approach for considering subject and State relations utilising the philosophical ideas of the Christian Existentialist Søren Kierkegaard.
