Dr Sam Rudd is a Materials Scientist and a Chemical Engineer with several years of experience in both academia and industry.

Dr Rudd's fundamental discoveries have laid the foundation for an entirely new area of academic exploration with a demonstrated opportunity for actual commercial applications. His discoveries have led to an ongoing collaboration between academia and industry, and he is a co-inventor of the next generation of chemical sensors in aqueous environments, which is on the path to commercialisation.

Dr Rudd's high-quality research and discoveries have been recognised in recent years through being awarded:
• SIEF Ross Metcalf STEM+Business Fellowship in 2020
• Prestigious Prime Super Agricultural Innovation Award in 2019 for the significance of his research findings applicable to AgTech development
• Ralston Medal of Excellence in Physical Chemistry in 2019 for his fundamental study
• Norton Jackson Material Science and Engineering Medal in 2018 for linking fundamental research with industrial application.

Prior to his academic appointments, Dr Rudd has worked in the chemical industry as a professional Chemical Engineer. He is currently an invited reviewer for several high-impact journals in the area of Materials Science, Surface Engineering, Thin Film Coatings, Chemistry, Sensors, Electrochemistry, and Food Science.
