Sanae is a Researcher at United Nations University UNU-MERIT, and co-leads of United Nations University - Climate Resilience Initiative. She has an expertise in behavioural science with background in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and behavioural economics. Her research interests are in the application of psychology and behavioural science to better understand human behaviour and to utilize the insights towards diverse objectives such as climate resilience, circular economy, and stakeholder engagement. She is currently working on multiple international projects such as circular economy, corporate social / environmental responsibility, climate resilience and mental health. She has worked at several academic institutions such as Kyoto University; Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University, Japan (MSc Psychology); the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Germany; University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA; and Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience and School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, the Netherlands (PhD Psychology) as well as public and private sectors.
