Sara Nowakowski, PhD, CBSM, DBSM is an Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and who treats patients with insomnia and other sleep disorders at the Baylor Sleep Medicine Clinic. She is also a Research Health Scientist at the Houston VA, where she conducts research on sleep and women’s health. Dr. Nowakowski recently completed a study examining a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) intervention for insomnia and nocturnal hot flashes in midlife women. Her current NIH-funded research aims to assess the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia in patients undergoing hip or knee replacement on functional recovery. She has over 50 publications and has a book for providers on adapting CBT-I that is in press (publisher Elsevier).
