PhD Candidate in Literature, University of Portsmouth

My interests are in bodies and their cultural meanings. My doctoral research is in Victorian Literature and female gerontology, specifically looking at the meaning ascribed to signs of visual ageing in women. I have also written about social and historical assumptions in children’s literature, particularly in regard to change. I am exploring the meaning given to female ageing, particularly where the medical becomes gothicised.
