Sarah Garlington is an Assistant Professor in Ohio University’s Social Work Program. She teaches macro practice and social theory courses, with a research focus on community strategies to meet social welfare needs, including faith-based organizations. Dr. Garlington has worked in community mental health, health education, and advocacy arenas. She is currently conducting research about congregations engaging in structural social change in their communities and about various ethical frameworks in social work as a discipline (such as social empathy, virtues, and structural competence).
