I am en evolutionary biologist focused on understanding how variation (in traits and genetics) within species is created and why it is still there. For example, why are males and females drastically different in some species, when their closely related and co-occuring sister species have nearly indistinguishable males and females? Most of my work focuses on marine animals, in particular pipefish (close relatives of seahorses). You can read more on my lab website: https://flanagan-lab.github.io/
