Sarah is a medievalist, book historian, broadcaster and BBC Radio 3 New Generation Thinker. She is Professor of English at the University of Liverpool, where she teaches and researches medieval literature and history. Her current research focuses on literature produced during The Wars of the Roses, on the political consciousness of medieval writers, and on medieval manuscripts and early books. She is also working on a cultural history of the mermaid.
