Vice-Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Wollongong

Scott McKinnon is a Vice-Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Australian Centre for Cultural Environmental Research (AUSCCER), University of Wollongong.

His current research investigates the role of collective memory in Australian experiences of disaster.

Scott is a historian and geographer with a particular interest in geographies of memory and the ways in which the past is constructed and enacted in the present. He has pursued these core research interests across a range of subjects, including disasters research, cinema studies and historical geographies of sexuality and gender.

Scott's first book, Gay Men at the Movies: Cinema, memory and the history of a gay male community, was published by Intellect Books (UK) in 2016.

Scott is Vice President of Sydney's Pride History Group and of Oral History NSW.
