Scott McKinnon is a Research Fellow in the Centre for the Study of the Inland, La Trobe University.

A historian and geographer, Scott's current research investigate the social impacts of environmental change, including bushfires and floods. He is the co-editor (with Dr Margaret Cook) of Disasters in Australia and New Zealand: Historical Approaches to Understanding Catastrophe (Palgrave MacMillan, 2020)

Scott has also published extensively on histories and geographies of sexuality in Australia, particularly Sydney's LGBTQ+ communities. He is the author of Gay Men at the Movies: Cinema, Memory and the History of a Gay Male Community (Intellect Books, 2016).

Scott is Vice President of Sydney's Pride History Group and of Oral History NSW.
