Role
Seamus is course leader for BA (Hons) Marketing. He is also module leader for Future Marketing, Managing in Marketing and the Marketing Environment. He is also part of a research team working and publishing in the areas ofidentity formation in your adults and social marketing.

Career overview
Seamus draws extensively on his 30 years of commercial experience gained in direct sales, retail and leisure and in health provision in the public sector.

He has been involved in strategic planning, marketing, sales management, recruitment and training, corporate PR and exit planning in the private sector and he has run his own management consultancy business.

Seamus won the prestigious Chartered Management Institute Student of the Year award in 2000 in the second year of his MBA and the Bass MBA Student of the Year award in 2001 in his final year MBA.

Research areas
Dr Allison’s doctoral research focused on the role of internal communications in fostering trust within organisations and how this in turn facilitates the development of a great place to work.

Current research interests include the role of social marketing techniques to facilitate health behavioural change in populations, cycling and identity formation in young adults, not-for-profit marketing communications and how marketers account for the customer’s experience when designing a marketing mix.

External activity
Seamus contributes to the CIM’s annual study centre conference and works with British Cycling to provide sports cycling opportunities to children in the local area. Seamus also regularly represents Ireland in international duathlon championships.
