I'm an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of English at the University of Sheffield and an Associate Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. My research focuses on animals and the environment in literature, film, and popular culture.
I have a particular interest in science fiction and imagined futures of human-nonhuman relationships. Most recently, I have begun to research the politics and aesthetics of meat production, and I am currently co-editing an essay collection that is provisionally titled Writing Meat: Flesh-Eating and Literature Since 1900.
In 2015 I helped to found the Sheffield Animals Research Centre at the University of Sheffield: http://sheffieldanimals.group.shef.ac.uk/
