Senior Specialist on Employment, International Labour Organisation

Sher Verick studied at the National Centre of Development Studies, Australian National University, in Canberra, Australia, where he received a Master of Economics degree. He was awarded the Helen Hughes Prize for academic excellence. From 1999 to 2000 he worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics, University of Manchester, UK. After completing his doctorate in economics at IZA and the University of Bonn in 2004, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research. From 2005 to 2009, Sher Verick was an Economic Affairs Officer with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. From 2009 to 2011, he was Senior Research Economist with the ILO in Geneva.
