For the last two decades Sian has been a journalist and broadcaster, working in radio, television, print and online, and specialising in reporting on the arts and popular culture. She has been a newspaper columnist, a travel and opinion writer, and a theatre, opera and book critic.

Sian is also a professional media consultant, a published fiction and non fiction writer, an event host, curator and public speaker, and a teacher at universities and writers centres. In May 2014 her first book, a memoir called 'Shy', was published by Text Publishing.

She has a second career as a musician and recording artist (singer, clarinettist and choral conductor) and a producer of concerts in venues ranging from churches and concert halls through to building sites and bars.

In her spare time, Sian is an active board member of several community and arts organisations.
