Simon Niemeyer is a research fellow with the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance in the School of Politics at the Australian National University.

His research interests span environmental governance, deliberative democracy, and the role of deliberative democracy for adaptation to and mitigation of climate change.
His recent research includes the Climate Change and the Public Sphere project, which interviewed over 100 participants seeking their response to a series of climate change scenarios, which was compared to their responses following participation in a deliberative process on climate change adaptation.

He was also involved in the organisation of Australia's first Citizens' Parliament in 2009.
