Simon specialises in the economic and financial aspects of the sport and leisure industries, with a particular focus on the impact of major sporting events. He leads the Sports Industry Research Centre (SIRC) team at the University and is also a qualified management accountant.
His expertise includes sport economics; the financial performance and position of sports organisations, sports participation, the impact of major sport and cultural events, elite sport policy and performance, performance management in sport, volunteering in sport, monitoring and evaluation of interventions designed to increase participation in sport.
