Simon Szreter is Professor of History and Policy at Cambridge University and the author (with Hilary Cooper) of After the Virus: Lessons from the Past for a Better Future, published by Cambridge University Press (https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/after-the-virus/748D2883622738E1F515886A9BA4953F).

Professor Szreter is the founding editor of History & Policy (www.historyandpolicy.org) and specialises in history and public policy, especially in relation to comparative demographic, social and economic change. Previous research includes the study of qualitative and quantitative sources on the history of fertility decline in Britain, including a project on the venereal diseases and fertility decline; the history of mortality public health and politics; and the comparative history of identity registration systems in world history.
