Professor of Genetics and Reproduction, University of East Anglia

Simone Immler is Professor of Genetics and Reproduction in the School of Biological Sciences at UEA. She researches sexual reproduction and inheritance – with a particular focus on genetics and genomics in zebrafish and humans. Some of her main findings show that selection on specific sperm phenotypes affect offspring survival and life-long fitness and that sperm phenotype is linked to sperm genotypes.

Simone has been awarded the prestigious Starting and Consolidator Grants from the European Research Council and a Wallenberg Academy Fellowship in Sweden. She currently is an Associate Editor of Proceedings of the Royal Society London B and has been an Associate Editor of Evolution and Reviewing editor for the Journal of Evolutionary Biology. She is member of several bodies including the Society for the Study of Evolution (SSE), the European Society of Evolutionary Biology (ESEB) and UK Genetics Society and the Genetics Society of America.
