Professor of History, Obafemi Awolowo University

Sola Akinrinade is a professor of history at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, south west, Nigeria. He joined the university on August 2, 1982 as a graduate assistant. He became an assistant lecturer in 1984, Lecturer 2, in August 1988 and Lecturer 1 in October of the same year. He became a senior lecturer in 1992, reader in history in 1997 and a full professor in 1999.
He was a reserach fellow at the Centre for the Study of Global Governance, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, England, between 2001 and 2002.
He was also a Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Advanced Social Science, Port Harcourt, Nigeria in 1994.
Akinrinade assumed office as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the Osun State University, Osogbo, Nigeria in August 2007.
He is a fellow of the Historical Society of Nigeria. Akinrinade is a member of the American Studies Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Society of International Affairs and Association for Commonwealth Studies.
