Sophie is an early career researcher and has recently completed her PhD which explored the impacts of claiming Universal Credit on emotions, wellbeing and identities. The qualitative research used interviews and participant diaries to investigate the experiences of living with Universal Credit.

Sophie's research interests include exploring lived experiences of social security and poverty and how these intersect with emotions and the 'self'.
