Sophie is an actor, writer, and researcher. She graduated with a PhD in 2019 from the English & Comparative Literature department. Her research specialised in thought experiments in philosophy of mind and the use of narrative in philosophy, looking at issues of consciousness and AI, and the meeting between literature and philosophy.

Sophie has a career as an actor and writer. As an actor she has worked in film, television and theatre. She is also the author of: 'A Marriage Proposal: the importance of equal marriage and what it means for all of us' for the Guardian. She has written for the Guardian, The Times, and The Spectator. In 2018 she won the Royal Academy Pin Drop short story award for her story 'Sunbed'.

Her first novel 'Love and Other Thought Experiments' was longlisted for the Desmond Elliot Prize and the Booker Prize 2020.
