Stephanie Alaribe

Dr Alaribe is a Bio and Pharmaceutical Chemist with a specialty in Medicinal and Natural Product Chemistry. She is also a Public Analyst in assessing drugs, drugs-related products and water. Dr Alaribe holds a BSc. Degree in Biochemistry (University of Calabar, 2001), Masters and PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Lagos in 2005 and 2011 respectively and qualified as a Public analyst of the Institution of Public Analyst of Nigeria in 2017.

Over the years, Dr Alaribe has conducted research in the area of isolation, purification and structural identification of secondary metabolites bioactives present in selected Nigerian medicinal products of plants, fungi and animal origin. She made a significant breakthrough in the discovery of Decussatin, a potential antimalaria drug in Ficus Congensis for the very first time. Currently, she is involved in developing Quality Control (QC) markers in accessing Nigerian herbal and Medicinal products using computational chemistry and fingerprinting.
