Reader in Cerebrovascular Genetics, St George's, University of London

Steve is a geneticist with a particular interest in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease.

Genetics underlies our individual make-up and influences a huge range of factors including susceptibility to disease and illness. His research seeks to examine the genetic risk of stroke and determine whether this information can be useful in both identifying individuals at high risk in the future as well as providing information on stroke recovery and recurrence.

He also has extensive experience of genetic analysis, genetic epidemiology and statistical genetics in both family and population genetics. Most recent efforts focus on analysis of genetic risk in a certain type of stroke and how identified genetic risk factors exert their effects at the protein level.
