I am an Assistant Professor of economics at Middle Tennessee State University, where I am also a member of the Political Economy Research Institute. My research interests include economic history, political economy, and criminal justice. My historical research studies the role of U.S. government institutions (especially the Post Office) in the late 19th and early 20th century, while my political economy research focuses on how voters respond to campaign messaging, information networks, and election structures. My criminal justice research focuses on the causal effect of prison education and the effect of public policy on educational offerings.
