My research focuses on Medieval Archaeology and Castle Studies, whilst my teaching practice focuses on Archaeological Professional Practice and Landscape Archaeology. I also have research interests in Archaeological Health and Safety and Burial Practice & Cemetery Management.

I am currently conducting research on the Archaeology of the Anarchy Period for a publication examining the castles and material culture surviving from one of the darkest chapters in English history, the first English Civil War, which occurred between 1139 and 1153 AD.

I am additionally leading a research project exploring the oral history and practice of gravedigging.
